Galileo Week 5

Man, looking back, I feel as if camp just started. These camp days have started picking up and passing by faster than any type of work I have ever done before. Camp is still the same old fun thing I’ve experienced in the past and even more as an adult working to give kids the fun. I feel like nothing really went wrong this week and ever since everyone’s gotten into the flow, everything's been rolling along. This week however, I was moved from being a breaker to being an office intern. As a previous breaker and lunch maker, I have already been exposed to a lot of things for office interns because we usually finish our jobs during the first half of the day then transition into helping out the office with anything they need. I did do other things like sorting newsletters, nametags, and shirts for campers. It was a very chill and relaxed job but fun. I spent a lot of time making posters and just getting to know some of the office people. These people included the program coordinator (Angela), operations coordinator (Kaite), and the camp director (J.B). The operations coordinator, Katie, or as all summer interns call her, Mama G, is in charge of all summer interns and honestly I couldn’t have asked for a better boss/mentor. She is very caring and notices when something is wrong. She always brought me up when my energy was low and has influenced me to be motivate others. Basically every intern has a meeting called personal development with her where she sort of gives an overview of improvements she’s noticed the past couple weeks and I had mine this week. She and I both noticed that I am very open and welcoming to all campers and parents. Hopefully I can gain more skills with the remaining two weeks of camp.
